As a proud Creekside High School graduate, resident of Fairburn, and someone who has worked directly in our community, my heart is rooted right here at home.

Fairburn has given me so much, and now it’s my time to give back, to listen, to serve, and to help move Fairburn Forward.

-Rian Trotter

WHY I'M RUNNING...

My journey with Fairburn began at Creekside High School during a pivotal time in my life. Back then, I had lost focus on academics and was drifting down the wrong path. Creekside for me represents that “fresh start” that I so desperately needed to get back on track — and I’ve been moving forward ever since.

Fairburn has shaped me in countless ways: through the teachers who inspired me, the neighbors who supported me, and the opportunities that helped me grow. Most importantly, Fairburn is where I met my wonderful wife of 17 years, Kimya, who has her own origin story in this community. As a child, she cheered for the Fairburn Flames at Duncan Park and attended both Evelyn C. West and Bear Creek Middle School. Together, our lives are a testament to the deep connections and opportunities this city provides.

That’s why I’m running for City Council — because I believe in putting people before politics. I am committed to listening to the voices of our residents, serving with integrity, and working every day to ensure Fairburn remains a place where families, seniors, and future generations can thrive.

My vision is simple: to help move Fairburn Forward. That means protecting families from unnecessary financial burdens, expanding services for our seniors, empowering our youth through education and financial literacy, and supporting our small businesses while attracting the right new businesses that meet the needs of our community.

This campaign is not just about me — it’s about us. Together, we can build a stronger, more connected Fairburn that reflects the values, hopes, and dreams of the people who call it home. I would be honored to earn your support as we take this journey forward.

Rian Trotter was born at Grady Memorial Hospital in the heart of Atlanta, GA, and raised on the Southside—spending his formative years in Southwest Atlanta, College Park, and Fairburn. He is the third of five children born to Pastor Rick and Annette Trotter.

Rian attended Creekside High School in Fairburn, where he was recognized as a Wendy’s Scholar-Athlete—an honor awarded to students who excel academically and athletically.

He went on to further his education at Paine College, an HBCU in Augusta, GA, where he was elected Mr. Paine College, served on the Student Government Association, and became a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. During his time at Paine, Rian developed a lasting commitment to service, leadership, and strengthening community connections.

Upon returning home, Rian applied his experience at Wachovia Bank to launch the First Step Financial Literacy Empowerment Program, which educated teenagers on credit, interest rates, investments, and personal finance. For the past 11 years, he has built a successful career in real estate, helping many families achieve their dream of homeownership.

In 2008, Rian married the love of life, Kimya, daughter of Pastor Raymond and Donna Causey. Kimya shares Rian’s passion for service, dedicating her life’s work to advocating for seniors and individuals with disabilities. Together, they are raising three wonderful children: Rylan (12), Kamryn (7), and Kristian (3).

Rian’s professional expertise, strong community roots, and family values fuel his dedication to improving Fairburn—ensuring safe neighborhoods, excellent schools, and greater opportunities for ALL residents. A firm believer in collaboration, Rian is committed to doing his part to help move Fairburn forward together.
